Ariane Lallemand

French-born Ariane Lallemand has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Europe and America, and with chamber ensembles on four continents. An avid and versatile cellist, she has also appeared in solo recitals at Alice Tully Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, and recently recorded both Haydn Cello concertos.

Ariane Lallemand was a member of the Contrasts Quartet, a critically acclaimed and versatile ensemble whose recording of works by Ned Rorem was nominated for a 2006 Grammy Award. In 2005 the group was awarded a National Grant from Chamber Music America.

Ms. Lallemand has performed and toured with the Mark Morris Dance Group since 2000, and has also appeared as a soloist with dancers Peter Boal and Benjamin Millepied.

As a baroque player Ariane has performed the Bach Solo Cello Suites at St. Peter's Church and at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, among others. She also participates in festivals and concerts in Italy and France with such groups as Le Concert d Astree with Emmanuelle Haim and Les Talens Lyriques with Christophe Rousset. In the United States she has played at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, D.C.) with Kenneth Slowik and Judson Griffin on a Stradivarius cello loaned by the museum, and has appeared in the USA with the baroque ensemble Repast and Bradley Brookshire.
